EMBEZZLEMENT

CONTACT US AT 703.542.4500

Embezzlement — also known as employee fraud or employee theft — falls into the larger category of white collar crime. It can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the value of the goods or money allegedly embezzled.  If the amount allegedly embezzled is less than $500.00, then it will be charged as a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail and up to a $2,500.00 fine.  If the amount allegedly embezzled is $500.00 or more, then it will be charged as a felony with a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in jail and a $2,500.00 fine.

If you believe that you are being investigated for a white collar crime, chances are that law enforcement officers are already building a case against you. You need a strong attorney on your side who can defend you.  Noorishad Law, P.C. has extensive experience defending clients in even the most complex cases. While embezzlement is not considered a violent crime, it is still pursued vigorously by law enforcement and prosecutors. It is likely that a substantial case has been built against you. It is crucial that you work with a skilled Virginia attorney to ensure your rights are not violated.

A conviction for a financial crime such as embezzlement can have disastrous effects on both your personal and professional lives. The punishment for an embezzlement conviction may include jail time, fines, restitution, and probation.  Even an allegation of a white collar crime may be damaging to your career.   If you are not a United States citizen, a conviction may be grounds for deportation or placement in removal proceedings, including a possible ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) Detainer.

Our firm will provide a customized, tenacious defense designed to shield you from the full force of the criminal justice system. Whether we are defending you in trial or negotiating a reduction in charges, you can count on our firm to help guide you through the criminal justice system in attempting to achieve the best result for your particular case.
