VIOLENT OFFENSES

CONTACT US AT 703.542.4500
Violent crime is not the most frequent type of crime in Virginia, but it is the one that receives the most attention from the public and policymakers.  Due to the seriousness of these crimes, the law provides the most severe penalties for these crimes. For persons convicted of some of these crimes, the Commonwealth may incarcerate them for life or even impose the death penalty.

What's troubling is that young people are disproportionately affected by violent crime. They commit a larger share of violent crimes and are more frequently the victims than those in other age groups.  According to the FBI, persons under the age of 25 accounted for 52%  of those arrested for murder.

If you have been charged with a violent crime, it is imperative that you hire an attorney as many of these crimes carry significant jail time and can have serious negative effects on your future.
